Candidate Statement – Geoffrey Beaty
(Incumbent Seeking Re-election)

My wife Wendy and I have lived on The Sea Ranch since retiring in 2010.  I have been affiliated with the PALKI Board of Directors since 2012, first as Legal Counsel to the Board, then as a Director.  The Lighthouse is an important part of our community and it is a pleasure to have a role in preserving and improving it. I would be honored to serve another term on the Board.

Norm Fast

Candidate Statement – Norman Fast, PALKI Treasurer
(Incumbent Seeking Re-election)

I am seeking a two-year term as a member of the Point Arena Lighthouse Keepers, Inc. Board of Directors. I bring to the Board a strong career as a Civil/Structural Engineer, Surveyor, Construction Manager, Arbitrator and Financial Planner. I have been on the PALKI Board for eight years in the capacities of Secretary and Treasurer. My PALKI accomplishments include:

  1. Design and reconstruction of concrete driveway approaches to the lodging cottages
  2. Installation of the National Register of Historical Places (NRHP) plaque
  3. Structural and cosmetic improvements to the gazebo
  4. Organization and implementation of a plan to eliminate long term debt which was successfully completed in 2017
  5. Design of new gates and associated fencing for the entry to the lighthouse
  6. Restructuring of endowment funds

Currently I am researching the possibility of the Lighthouse Tower being listed as a “National Historic Structure” by the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Committed to PALKl’s mission to “maintain the Lighthouse property in perpetuity,” I am also working on completing a new entry for the Light Station grounds.

I am married to Barbara Fast, a retired pediatric surgeon, and we have five children, nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Glenn Funk

Candidate Statement – Glenn A. Funk, PALKI Board President
(Incumbent Seeking Re-election)

I’ve been coming to the Point Arena area since the mid-seventies to relax and enjoy the beauty and serenity of the place.  When I retired as a scientist from Lawrence Livermore National Lab in 2005, my wife, Kalynn, and I took occupancy of our house in Anchor Bay and have lived here since.  Lighthouses have always fascinated me and I have long considered the Point Arena Light to be one of the most beautiful and graceful of them all.  I joined the Board of Directors in 2007 and am currently President; I’m responsible for safety at the light station and also serve as a Docent.  I take great pride in the dedication of the individual Board members and in the work we have done.  I wish to continue my work with the Board and would greatly appreciate your vote.
