Moonlight Day of the Dead at the Lighthouse

The Point Arena Lighthouse is thrilled to welcome back the Moonlight Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos Bajo la Luna) on Friday, November 1, 2024, from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This special community event is free to all.
The exhibit of student art inspired by the popular Día de los Muertos celebration will be displayed in the Buttress Room at the base of the Lighthouse Tower, The displayed art is by students of PCCHS, Point Arena Elementary, Pacific Community Charter Elementary, Manchester Elementary and Horicon. There will be a Community Altar in the Whale Watch Room of the Fog Signal Building Museum watched over by a Catrina and the public is invited to bring their offerings to add to the altar in memory of their loved ones.
In addition to the student art exhibit in the Lighthouse Tower, the artist exhibited in the Whale Watch Room Gallery (WWRG), Alex Theron, "The Environment and Sea" along with Ling-Yen Jones’ jewelry.
Some of the planned elements of the event include:
- Día de los Muertos-themed student art
- Community Altar
- Live music featuring David Verno Jr., Fide Mata, and more!
- La Catrina
- Sweet Treats for sale by PCCS, including, Champurrado, Horchata, & Jamaica
- The Mexican Food Truck
- Silent Auction (items from local businesses)
